A concerned citizen and Founder of Omanbapa Foundation Mr. Ernerst Yaw Darkwah popularly known as Omanbapa has stated categorically that, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is using the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) initiative to indirectly “steal”votes in the 2020 general election.
Commenting on the NABCO initiative by the NPP as part of the government’s plan to curb unemployment in the country, Mr Darkwah has called for a strategic measures of creating lasting jobs for the youth, especially for the unemployment graduates rather than creating a temporarily work for the youth. He said the GH₵70 billion salary for over 100,000 graduates for a year amounts to GHC 70,000.00 which according to him is a waste of money and resources.
He further explained that, the total amount of money to be spent on the NABCO beneficiaries within the four year regime of the NPP government can create lasting jobs or can set up a factory which according to him will reduce unemployment rate in the country.
“My concerns about this whole NABCO thing is that, which institutions are they going to work, will the government pay their SSNIT dues, will this NABCO thing last forever, why don’t government focus on establishing companies, create Jobs and partner with the private companies for the youth to work rather than creating a temporarily job for the youth, I think the government is indirectly gaining 100, 000 votes in the next general election”, he opined.
“I am appealing to the government to create more jobs, focus on dilapidated roads; health, education etc. because those are the important areas that can generate revenue for the country” he said.
Mr Darkwah has since given the government a one-week ultimatum to come out to explain to the general public about the source of the funding of 100,000 NABCO beneficiaries, their SSNIT contributions and other matters in the initiative.
“I believe President Nana Addo Dankwah is using NABCO to steal votes because he has privately persuaded the NABCO beneficiaries to vote for him in the next general election so the NABCO initiative sustains for a longer period before his tenure in office expires”.
Omanbapa made this known to Metro News, when he commented on the 100,000 NABCO beneficiaries.
