Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi wants the former President John Dramani Mahama to seek a medical advice over his ‘boot for boot’ remarks.
Mr Mahama after the Ayawaso by-election chaos threatened to unleash mayhem on the governing New Patriotic Party in the 2020 elections if they don’t stop attacking members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He said the NDC was more violent than the NPP but have been docile in respect of the constitution and the rule of law.
“We are not going to joke in 2020 and I’m sounding a warning to the NPP – we are going to match them boot for boot,” he said.
But Chairman Wontumi believes, it was wrong for the former president to make such a call; knowing the implications it could generate in the future.
Wontumi noted that the call made by the former President is uncharacteristic of a leader whose sole aim is to govern a peaceful country such as Ghana.
He therefore suggested that the former President gets a psychiatrist to examine his head before things get out of hand.
“Mahama is trying very hard to brainwash certain people in society. He is a radical man and believes so much in the ideology of militants. The state mustn’t allow him to persuade the vulnerable in society and a psychiatrist must quickly attend to him and let him know he is walking on a rough road”, he fumed.
